SafeCon
The proposed project SafeCon – Safe semi-autonomous convoying – plans to tackle the problem of safe and reliable supply and rescue convoys in dangerous areas. The main problem in these dangerous areas is the potential risk of persons getting killed. Currently the protection of the people within a convoy is guaranteed using expensive and heavy armor.
The target of SafeCon is to develop a technology enabling a convoy – consisting of armored and manned and unarmored and unmanned vehicles – to travel safe and reliable from a starting to a target position following a known route. The expected result of this project should be a reliable sensor and computer configuration for unmanned convoy vehicles. The vehicles should be able to autonomously drive within a convoy under different and varying environmental conditions.
