Flight assistance system
Assistance systems are an important tool to improve collision avoidance. In the project HWS (highway in the sky) a system is developed which especially supports the pilot facing non-cooperative aircrafts and landing at small airfields.
In the picture below tests are performed with a Katana and a trike.
To prevent accidents and human-error, it is imperative to assist the pilot in perceiving danger and reacting accordingly. Yet, not the indication of danger but the depiction of a safe route will lead to an improvement in response time. This project will demonstrate that a new generation of pilot assistant systems will significantly increase air traffic security especially for smaller airplanes, even on uncontrolled airfields.
